Corporate Staff

Gerry VicenziGerry Vicenzi - President/CEO

Gerry Vicenzi, FACHE, is Synernet's President and CEO. With over 25 years of healthcare experience in consulting, hospital administration, and association management, Gerry brings diverse experiences coupled with managerial and entrepreneurial skills to his position. Prior to joining Synernet in 1999, he served in senior management with the Greater Cleveland Hospital Association. Responsible for a regional, multi-state, group purchasing program with over $200 million in annual purchasing volume. Previously, Gerry managed an independent consulting practice and served as Vice President of Support Services and Information Services for Cleveland's Mt. Sinai Medical Center. Gerry holds a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Management Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.

Debbie Comeau, PHR - Human Resources Administrator / Executive Assistant

Debbie has the responsibility of administering the Human Resources policies & practices of Synernet, as well as being responsible for directing benefits programs for the company, including health, dental, life and retirement.  She provides HR support to Managers in the area of recruitment, orientation, performance management and retention.

 

Debbie also provides administrative support to the President/CEO and various boards and committees.


Jeff LaniewskiJeff Laniewski - Vice President

Jeff Laniewski serves as the Vice President of Synernet, Inc.

In this role his responsibilities include the oversight of the corporate financial department and budgetary process; development, marketing and operational management of various Synernet programs including supply chain activities (including telecommunications, electricity, fossil fuels, bio-hazardous waste and specialty gases), and new program development. He also oversees Synernet's newest business - Medical Transcription Services, headquartered in Wilton, Maine.

Jeff holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Economics, as well as a Master's degree in Industrial Administration from Union College (Schenectady, NY).

Prior to joining Synernet in 1998, Jeff was responsible for the global procurement activities and worldwide diagnostic equipment repair at IDEXX Laboratories. He has also held senior level management positions at General Electric and Saco Defense, Inc.

 

Troy Murphy - Director of Sales & Marketing

Troy Murphy is Director of Sales and Marketing.  His role is to expand services to targeted hospitals and healthcare organizations.  Troy has twenty years of sales and management experience working for Hannaford Brothers, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and IDEXX Laboratories.  He holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree from Bates College. 


Cyndi Taylor - Program Coordinator

Cyndi currently serves as the Program Coordinator for the Purchasing Division.   She brings more than 5 years experience to Synernet in the disciplines of managing, coordinating and administering.  Cyndi came to Synernet from UNUM Corporation. She is a graduate of Southern Maine Technical College with an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement Technology.

Becky Barrows - Senior Accountant

Becky Barrows is the Senior Accountant. She is responsible for all the financial functions for Synernet, Inc., Synernet Workers Compensation Fund, the Maine and New Hampshire Benefits Trust, and NCHN. She processes all accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll. She also runs the financial statements and coordinates the annual audits. She has over ten years experience in the financial field and has a Bachelors Degree from Husson College.

Medical Transcription Services

Victoria M. Donaldson - Director

Victoria is responsible for the overall management, day-to-day operations and direction of our Medical Transcription Services. She has over 10 years experience in managing and marketing a medical transcription service.  She is a graduate of Eastern Maine Technical College and holds an Associates degree in Business Management as well as a Bachelors Degree in Business from Husson College.

Clinical Engineering

Mike Hutchins - Director

Mike is the Director of Clinical Engineering Services. He is responsible for the overall direction, management, and financial performance of these services. He brings over twenty years of experience in the marketing, sales, and development of technology and services in healthcare organizations. Mike holds a BS in Management from Babson College in Wellesley, MA.


Kate Carroll - Administrative Coordinator

Kate is the Administrative Coordinator. She is responsible for the day-to-day administration, handling accounts payable, customer service and monitoring of the equipment repair and preventative maintenance budget. Kate's past experience includes 9 years with the University of Southern Maine as Operations Specialist with management responsibility for the Information Center. She also held positions of Office Manager in the School of Business and Engineering Studies Department.

John Deering - Technical Coordinator

John is a Biomedical Technician who primarily services our growing list of Partner accounts throughout southern Maine as well as supplying back up assistance to the other technicians. John received biomedical training during his tenure with the New Hampshire Air National Guard and also serves as the tech for the Portsmouth Air Guard location.

George Hajduk - Sterilizer Specialist

George is the Technical Manager. His responsibilities include administration of the day-to-day operations of the clinical engineering department, supporting the technical staff, and performing computer network administration for Synernet. He provides technical expertise, preventive maintenance and repair services to the hospital accounts. George was trained in the electronics field through the military and has a 2-year degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Connecticut. He has been with Synernet since 1995.

Jeff Cline - BMET

Jeff is a Biomedical Technician. He provides medical equipment service and preventive maintenance to Mercy Hospital in Portland. He has a 2-year degree in electronics and over 15 years experience in the medical equipment field ranging from biomedical equipment service to surgical lighting and dialysis.

Ora Davis -CBMET

Ora has been a Certified Biomedical Technician with Synernet since 1992. His duties consist of maintenance and support of medical devices for the MaineHealth clientele. He provides technical expertise as well as operational instruction to hospital staff. As the senior technician, he provides support and information to the technical staff. Ora has an Associates Degree in Electronics Technology from Heald College in San Francisco, California. He has been working in electronics and computer technologies since 1982.


Mike Dostie - BMET

Mike is a Biomedical Technician. He received his training from Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center while enlisted in the US Navy and graduated with an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences. He also received training as a Biomedical Equipment Specialist from Regis University in Denver, CO. He retired from the Navy in 1995 and began his career at Synernet.

Ken Rowe - CBMET

Ken is a Certified Biomedical Technician who provides medical equipment service and preventive maintenance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

Harry Sparks - BMET

Harry is a Biomedical Technician.  He provides support to Synernet's partner accounts.

Insurance Services

Lee Cyr - Director

Lee joined Synernet in March 2002 as Director, Insurance Services, and he is responsible for financial management, loss control services, claims administration, communications, training, and service for workers compensation services. He has over thirty years of experience in workers' compensation. He has been an active member of the Maine Workers' Compensation Coordinating Council since its inception in the mid-1980's, and currently serves as chair of the Maine Council of Self-Insurers and the Maine Self-Insurance Guaranty Authority.

Mark Plourd -Senior Consultant

Mark has been a Senior Workers Compensation Consultant working with the Synernet Workers’ Compensation Fund, St. Mary’s Healthcare and the MaineHealth Workers’ Compensation Programs. He also represents clients at mediations, hearings, settlements, and assists with loss control. With over 20 years experience in workers compensation, he has worked for commercial carriers as well as other third party administrators. Mark joined Synernet in 1997.

Sue Difilippo - Senior Consultant

Sue is a Senior Workers’ Compensation Consultant working primarily with the MaineHealth Workers’ Compensation Program.  She also represents clients at mediations, hearings, settlements, and assists with loss control. She has over 20 years experience as a licensed workers compensation adjuster. Sue came to Synernet from a local property and casualty insurance company. Sue joined Synernet in 2001.

Roberta Proctor – Senior Consultant

Roberta is a Senior Workers’ Compensation Consultant. She is responsible for administering claims for the MaineHealth Workers’ Compensation Program and the Synernet Workers’ Compensation Fund. She also represents clients at mediations, hearings, settlements, and assists with loss control. She has over 20 years experience as a licensed workers’ compensation adjuster, having worked for several insurance companies prior to joining Synernet in 2007.

Tish McAvoy - Claims Examiner

Sue is responsible for screening and evaluating medical only claims, sending out appropriate acknowledgement letters to the claimants, monitoring all medical bills for payment and making contact with the employer/customer and claimant. She works with the Synernet Workers’ Compensation Fund and the MaineHealth Workers’ Compensation Program.  She is also responsible for providing technical support to the Senior Workers’ Compensation Consultants. Tish worked for a major workers’ compensation insurer in Maine prior to joining Synernet in 1997.

Sue Henningsen - Claims Examiner

Sue is responsible for screening and evaluating medical only claims, sending out appropriate acknowledgement letters to the claimants, monitoring all medical bills for payment and making contact with the employer/customer and claimant. She works with the MaineHealth Workers’ Compensation Program.  She is also responsible for providing technical support to the Senior Workers’ Compensation Consultants. Sue worked for a large self insured employer in Maine prior to joining Synernet in 2006.

Tonya Later - Administrative Coordinator

Tonya is an Insurance Program Assistant and helps in the administration of workers compensation claims. She is responsible for entering payments to providers and claimants into the computer system, filing First Reports, paying invoices and claims, filing, and responding to phone inquiries. Tonya joined Synernet in 2002. She previously worked in the banking field.

Cindi Berg – Program Assistant

Cindi is responsible for the processing of medical bills and assisting with administrative duties in the department. In addition, she assists the Administration Department with payroll processing.  Cindi joined Synernet in 2007.

Credentials Verification Organization

Cheryl Schilke - Director

Cheryl has worked in the healthcare industry since 1971 as a nurse, in performance improvement, risk management and as a hospital medical staff coordinator. She has been involved in credentialing since 1992 and is the past President of the Maine Association for Medical Staff Services. She is a Certified Professional, Medical Staff Manager.


Rosemary Lyons - Lead Credentialing Specialist

Rose has worked in hospital credentialing since 1996 and joined the staff of the CVO in 2000. She is a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist and is responsible for the verification of the application and is regularly in contact with the providers and the staff at the customer organizations regarding the providers' status.
